Sustaining Innovation:
Start with Your Schedule & Metrics

Keeping innovation alive after training can feel like trying to keep a campfire burning in the rain. You start strong—full of energy and ideas—but then the day-to-day rush takes over. The trick? Build innovation into your schedule, not your spare time.

At Eureka! Ranch, our team has a simple habit that helps us do just that. Once a day – just 15 minutes at 4 pm – one person takes the floor. They can ask for feedback, test a prototype, or brainstorm ideas with the group. Yesterday we reviewed a web page mockup. The day before, we mind-dumped ideas for a webinar. Fifteen minutes later, everyone leaves energized and a little wiser.

Try something similar with your team:

1. Make it routine. Pick a day and time each week to share progress or ask for help. Keep it short so it sticks.

2. Track your wins. Celebrate what you learn, not just what gets implemented. Over time, you’ll see real progress.

3. Measure what matters. Consider how these sessions could show up in performance reviews or team metrics. When you measure innovation, it becomes part of the culture.

Structure drives behavior. A small ritual like this can turn innovation from an event into a habit.
